Whittier's athletic teams compete in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference.
In order to be eligible to participate in the Athletic Program, a student must be in good academic standing in both his or her vocational-technical major and five major academic classes.
State law requires that students undergo a physical exam before they may participate in interscholastic sports. A student's physical must by completed by June 1 or after for the upcoming school year. Results must by received by Whittier's nursing staff before a student may attend practices and games.
Participation on more than one team:
A student who is a member of a Whittier athletic team (Varsity, Junior Varsity, or Freshman teams) may practice or play that sport only once in any one day. For example, if a students practices or plays for a high school team and also belongs to a team outside the school, the student cannot practice or play for that outside team on the same day. Any player who violates this rule shall be declared ineligible for participation in a high school sport. (For the purpose of this rule, a day shall include the time from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.)
